Oldsmar, Florida — June 26,2026 — MI Metals is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Technic, a global leader in surface finishing technology, to design and install a fully automated anodizing line at its Florida facility.
This significant investment expands MI Metals' finishing capabilities and will provide customers with more finish options, increased capacity, enhanced consistency, and industry-leading anodizing technology. The Technic-engineered system will introduce advanced automation, expanded finish flexibility, and enhanced environmental controls while positioning MI Metals for continued growth.
Expanded Capabilities and Increased Capacity
The new anodizing line will feature:
- Caustic and Acid Etch Options to provide greater surface finish flexibility
- Three Sulfuric Acid Anodize Tanks, increasing capacity by approximately 50 percent
- Elector (Two-Step) Color capability to expand finish selections beyond traditional clear anodize
- Mid-Temp and Hot Water Seal options
- Integrated Part Dryer to eliminate water marks and ensure consistent, high-quality finishes
The new line represents a major evolution in MI Metals' anodizing offering. Customers will be able to select their preferred etch type, choose clear or color finishes, and determine the sealing method that best fits their application. This flexibility allows MI Metals to serve a broader range of markets while providing customers with finishes tailored to their specific performance and appearance requirements.
The fully automated recipe control system standardizes every critical step in the process, from immersion times to drip and dry cycles. This advanced automation helps ensure consistent color, appearance, and performance from run to run, delivering the quality and reliability customers expect.
Environmental and Operational Advancements
The project also includes significant environmental enhancements. A new mist elimination system will reduce emissions and improve air quality performance, while an integrated ion exchange system will increase water recycling, reducing overall water consumption and discharge. These improvements support MI Metals' commitment to environmental stewardship while enhancing operational efficiency.
Commitment to Innovation and Customer Focus
"This investment is about giving our customers more choices, greater consistency, and the confidence that comes from working with a partner committed to continuous improvement," said Brook Massey, Owner and President of MI Metals. "The new anodizing line combines increased capacity with state-of-the-art automation, allowing us to serve a broader range of applications while delivering the quality and reliability our customers expect."
Trials are expected to begin in early 2027, with full production targeted for mid-2027.
Upon completion, the new anodizing line will position MI Metals as one of the most advanced and capable anodizers in the Southeast, providing customers with expanded finish options, increased capacity, and industry-leading process control.
